Q) What do I need to do before taking lessons?
A) You CANNOT drive on the road without a Provisional Driving Licence and Photo card. You can apply for this up to two months before your 17th birthday, by filling in Form D1 which you can get from your local post office or by applying online.

Q) How long does it take to learn to drive?
A) Government figures show that most people pass their driving test after around 45hours of qualified tuition, combined with private practice with family or friends. However, this is only a guide and depends on your natural ability and motivation. Your ECOSAFE Driving Instructor will advise you when you are ready to take your test.

Q) What will I learn in the driving lessons?
A) Your ECOSAFE driving instructor will cover the full DSA syllabus tailored to your individual requirements including ECO driving and ‘Safe Driving for Life’.

Q) Can you help me with the Theory and Hazard Perception Tests?
A) Yes. ECOSAFE Driving Instructors will assist you in all aspects of the Theory and Hazard Perception Tests throughout your training. We can recommend the most useful learning materials.


The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) recommends that you ask potential training organisations the following questions before deciding on which one you will choose to help you qualify as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

Q) What ADI grade is your trainer?
A) Our instructors are highly qualified trainers, having achieved a Grade 5/6, hold the Cardington Special Driving Test and Institute of Advanced Motoring Certificate.

Q) How much is it going to cost?

Q) Does the course allow me to pay for the training in stages?
A) Yes. You have the option of ‘Pay as you Go’ or a 2 week intensive course.

Q) What extra support will I get if I fail an attempt at a qualifying test?
A) We pride ourselves in our high pass rates. However, should you fail a test our expert instructors are always on hand to give you support and guidance in area’s of weakness.

Q) Will extra attempts cost any more?
A) Yes. Extra attempts at your test are payable to the DSA. The cost depends on which test you need to retake.

Q) Is an assessment of suitability to become an ADI carried out beforehand?
A) Yes. ECOSAFE advise everyone to take one of our assessment drives before committing themselves to a course.

Q) Will I be given a training record detailing my progress?
A) Yes. We will give you a training progress record at the end of each session.

Q) Do I have to go on a trainee licence?
A) No. This is an option available should you wish to use it. Your ECOSAFE trainer will advise you.

Q) What guarantee is there that there will be a suitable driving school willing to take me as a trainee at the appropriate time?
A) Once you have passed part 1 and 2 and completed the Instructional Training we can offer you a trainee licence position with ECOSAFE Driving School.

Q) Can I train while carrying on with my existing job?
A) YES. Training can be tailored around your lifestyle and commitments.
